Another busy weekend for Ruby! Her uncle Sam arrived home from Europe and so we headed to Pella so that Ruby could meet him. She took to his "rugged look", and although he avoided the dirty diapers, Sam took to Ruby quite quickly as well. Ruby cuddled sweetly with everyone all weekend, but has become quite the fiesty eater - crying mid feeding... spitting up a ton some times and not at all other times... I swear as soon as you figure out one thing, then something else gets difficult! The good news is that she is doing amazing at night. Usually going down around 11-11:30 and only getting up once during the night before getting up at 7.
Then to end the weekend, Mom, Dad and Uncle Sam packed up Ruby, and we headed North to New Hampton, IA. This is where Ruby's great grandparents live. They hadn't seen Sam in a while and had never met Ruby. Ruby traveled pretty well. We had to stop for her to eat once on both 3 hour trips (there and back), but otherwise she slept and looked out the window. Ruby was shown off as a great grandchild, as we headed down the hallway of the nursing home. She played with both great grandparents, being an angel for grandpa and making grandma show off her mothering techniques after 8 kids and 17 grandkids. Cousin Trish, Uncle Dewey, and Aunt Penny also stopped by and got some lovin'.
We are getting excited as she is smiling more and more... it now becomes a debate over when is it acutally a real smile and not just Ruby exploring her face muscles or responding to some gas. We will let you all know when we have a confirmed real smile. :)
