Elton John watch out...

Here comes Ruby! :)  Today Ruby spent a good 15 minutes (which is a long time in baby time!) sitting on my lap singing (and raspberrying) and playing her new piano with her feet.  Her godparents got her her first toy that plays music and lights up.  I think their intention was to drive us up the wall.  Steve said he's getting sick of the music, but for now I can tune it out and love watching her get so excited about it.

By the way, we did make it to our 4 month appointment last week.  Ruby is growing of course... 12 lbs 13 oz and 24.5 inches.  She was very good for her three shots and the doctor gave us some suggestion regarding getting her back to sleeping through the night and starting foods.   I will blog about that soon!

a couple busy days

Sunday was a big day at our house. Ruby was baptised at St. Theresa's Catholic Church and many of her closest friends and family were there to witness it. What an awesome day. In order to get everyone in the same spot at the same time, we had the baptism at the 4:30pm Sunday night mass. Her godparents had to hurry down from Minneapolis after a wedding and my mom had to rush off after, as she was headed to Italy bright and early the next day. Thank you everyone for the extra effort to be there. We truly appreciated it! We were able to gather at the house before hand for lunch. It was a nice chance to celebrate a bit before hand...and also celebrate all the dads in attendance. A later in the day mass meant a little extra effort in working Ruby's schedule to make sure she was awake and happy and the necessary time. She was a trooper and despite rubbing her eyes a bit and her mom coming at her with a finger nail clippers (thanks Kim!) in order to cut the wrist elastic that was too tight on her gown and turning her hands purple, she stayed happy throughout the whole mass. She even had a few smiles for the camera after it was all done! We couldn't be more proud of our baby girl and loved getting to share her with family and friends.

Yesterday we followed the baptism with a little more excitement. Ruby and mom left bright and early to head up to Colo. There we met up with my cousin Kelly and her kiddos Hannah and Noah. Then off we went to northeast Iowa to visit Grandma and Grandpa and my Aunt LeeAnn and cousins Michaela and Casey from Alaska. It was very good to see them, though we were bummed not to get more time with Grandma and Grandpa. They both are currently fighting off the flu. :( I will say 6 hours in the car with 3 little ones was a challenge. They rewarded us with 20 minutes of all three of them sleeping, but the rest of the time was a combo of crying, laughing, singing, reading books, and plenty of snacks! I don't think I have been more tired than I was when I arrived home last night.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures and to my husband: Thank you for sharing your Father's Day. You are a great dad. I am lucky to have you and love watching you interact with our daughter. We both love you!

Raspberries

Ruby turned 4 months today!  4 months means lots of things... another round of shots, she gets to start baby cereal, and according to something I read the other day, she should be talking lots and raspberry-ing.  I remember thinking "well she is definitely talking a lot (see pics below), but I haven't seen any raspberries".  Well today as she was laying on the couch and I was folding clothes, we were talking and playing and I "raspberried".  Sure enough, she answered right back.... or at least tried.  For about a minute, we went back and forth raspberrying to each other.  It is so amazing to watch her become more and more aware of her surroundings and start to interact with them as well.

One hour later, Steve was putting her down for a nap.  Apparently, she resisted by raspberrying her binky out over and over.  Let's just say Daddy isn't as big of a fan of her new trick! :)
