on the eigth day of Christmas...

my true love gave to me, 8 ornaments that Ruby pulled off the tree.

Ruby really had very little interest in the Christmas tree for most of December.  She was mostly focused on whatever was 3 feet in front of her.  So unless we put her right next to the tree, she didn't give it much notice.  That is until a couple days before Christmas.  Christmas weekend is when Ruby became truly mobile.  She had been able to crawl for weeks, but suddenly at Grandma and Grandpa Reicks, she discovered she could go from room to room on her own power.  Then we got to Papa and Babcha's.  Their dog, Cooper, gave Ruby the true motivation she needed.  Suddenly she was under the pool table, in Cooper's water bowl, headed for outlets, and most definitely the Christmas tree.  She speciifically like the balls on the tree and throwing them (thank God they were plastic!).  When we returned home, her new view on life meant more work for Mom and Dad.  She most definitely noticed the tree and the ornaments that she could yank off.  Needless to say, the tree came down shortly after Christmas.

Although the Christmas ornaments that look like balls are gone, she still has a fondness for balls, and we have been amazed in the past week how much she likes to play "catch".  She will throw the ball at Steve and I and then wait for us to throw/roll it back and keep this up for quite a while.  Perhaps sports are in our future???  I am pretty sure Steve hopes so. :)
