On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 10 hundered miles in the car... No kidding, in the past three weeks Ruby has traveled 1,000 miles. Between going to the Wagner's and back, then to the Reicks's - the Wagner's and back home again, and then most recently all the way up to EauClaire, WI for a family wedding. Ruby was a trooper napping a majority of the time. We did give her a pretty good break on the way up and the way back this weekend to get all the wiggles out, change diapers and fill her tummy.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 11 games of catch... Ruby's favorite gift from Christmas seems to be the basketballs that came with her hoop. She doesn't really get the idea of throwing them in the hoop, but rather at people. The hoops serves more as something to balance with, as she is pulling up to her feet a lot. For a ten month old, her attention span can be pretty impressive during a game of catch. For some reason, she is really into throwing things. Her left arm is much stronger than her right, but she throws with both equally. And finally... On the twelth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 12 episodes of crying in my sleep... until Mommy and Daddy finally figured out I was teething. Although it may seem obvious, it took us several evenings of little sleep to figure out what it was. Ruby's sleep patterns usually include a couple times up to feed in the night and so when she started crying at 9:30 and 11 and 1, etc. , we thought that is what she wanted. We aren't dummies though and weren't going to let her get away with more than two feedings at night. So we rocked... and sang... and patted her back and then she would wake up again 45 minutes later. After 2-3 nights of this, Mom and Dad finally tried Tylenol, and it helped. Sure enough a couple of days later, two little nubs emerged on the top. All Ruby wanted for Christmas was her two front teeth! She now has 5 (two on top and three on the bottom). Now that they have broken through, we have dropped the Tylenol and are baby seems to be sleeping even better. Last night there was only one time up feeding... let's hope it's a trend!!!
