our growing girl...

One week from now Ruby will go to her 2 month appointment.  This is something her Mom and Dad are excited for, as she has not been officially weighed and measured since she was 2 weeks old.  We sure can see the changes and are loving each day as a new "roll" appears and clothes get moved to the "too small" box.  Unfortunately, the doctor's appointment will also mean her first set of vaccinations.  I am sure she will have words for us after that!

This weekend Daddy took a "day off" and went golfing, while Ruby and Mommy headed up to Storm lake with Grandma and Grandpa Reicks.  Ruby got to meet her Great Grandma Bettie and her Great Great Aunt Henrietta.  Both women offered to take Ruby off our hands.  I reminded them that in 2 hours she would be hungry and that without constantly eating, she sure wouldn't be the same happy girl!   The weekend became a little scary as the tornadoes passed through Saturday night.  As we sat in the hotel and watched the weather report, they showed 10 tornadoes basically surrounding Storm Lake.  The hail began to beat against the roof, we lost TV connection, and a police officer hung in the parking lot "spotting".  Ruby, of course, was oblivious.  Luckily, Storm Lake didn't seem much damage.  Unfortunately as we drove home, we did see buildings blown apart, sheet metal littering the fields.  These types of things seem even scarier once you are a parent.  I know it sounds cliche, but keeping her safe is now much more important than keeping myself safe ever was.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of our growing girl, and as a side note, we added a blog entry around 2 weeks ago that had a video attached of her rolling over (a skill she still possesses, but finds more difficult now that she has to lug a bigger belly along with her!).  For some reason, our "followers" were not notified when that blog got added... for those interested you can look through the archives to see it.
