9 month appointment
With the holiday last week, we have been a little slow to post. Last Monday Ruby had her 9 month appointment... o how time flies! Mommy and Daddy got to go with her. This is always nice, as there tends to be a wait, and so there are two of us to keep her busy. Plus, Mommy has a tendency to forget all her questions when the doctor gets in the room, so it helps to have Daddy to help remember. :) Developmentally, Ruby is right on target. Quickly changing everyday, it is so fun to watch her immitate everything we do and explore her world. She is now waving "bye-bye", playing a whole lot of peek-a-boo, moving about the room (not exactly crawling, but a more creative version :) ), pointing, and is a true dancing machine. Growth wise, she grew two inches in 3 months, but she did not gain the weight most babies do. She went from the 47th percentile to the 19th. A mommy's job is to keep her baby nourished and growing, so of course it concerned me. The pediatrician was not so concerned. She said that it is pretty typical to see a drop in progress around this age, as they are moving and burning more calories and they are feeding themselves. While her hand to mouth accuracy is growing, it is far from perfect. Check out her high chair after any meal! So the doctor says we just wait and see. If at 12 months, her weight percentile continues to drop then we will look into it a little more and perhaps up her butter intake. :) I always gain weight around the holidays, so hopefully Miss Ruby will too. Thanksgiving post, coming soon!!
